The unit has an extremely efficient enclosed cooling system which ensures fast freezing-on of specimens, temperature control and defrosting within seconds with minimum handling.

Section Transfer System STS
The system consists of a special disposable blade carrier with laminar flow of water between cutting edge and heated water bath mounted directly on the microtome. Immediate section stretching occurs as a result of water surface tension simultaneous with cutting. Paraffin ribbons captured are gently transported via a water bridge and transferred automatically into the water bath. Unwanted sections and trim debris are collected in a separate removable waste tray.

Cool Cut
Even for lengthy sectioning conditions without the need to recool outside the clamp can be provided. The clamp temperature remains constantly approx. 20 K below ambient temperature. The Cool-Cut can be attached to all MICROM rotary microtomes and is available with cassette clamp or standard clamp.
